BUSHFIRE RESPONSE - AUTOMATIC VEHICLE LOCATION SYSTEM

Additional resources for the ongoing management, support and maintenance of the Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) system for the emergency services sector. AVL provides real time location information of firefighting and other emergency response vehicles during incidents. AVL is expected to be installed in approximately 1400 vehicles at a total cost of $12.7m.
NEW PATHWAYS: VOLUNTEERING RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION PROGRAM
$4.4m OVER 5 YEARS
This program is intended to increase volunteer numbers and improve the experience for new and existing members, directly increasing volunteer retention rates across the service. This will ensure the SES has the capability and capacity to respond effectively to the risk of extreme and protracted weather events.
ACCELERATED FIRE TRUCK REPLACEMENT
The MFS has negotiated an accelerated fire truck replacement schedule. Eight new pumpers and an aerial platform appliance are scheduled to be delivered in 2021-22, with a further 6 new firefighting appliances scheduled to be delivered each year over the following three years.
POLICE, AMBULANCE AND RESCUE AVIATION SERVICE
During 2021-22, procurement will be completed for a new contract to deliver emergency aviation services, including helicopters and fixed wing airplanes providing emergency medical retrieval, law enforcement, police tactical response and search and rescue.
POLICE SHIELD, ICT SYSTEM - STAGES 3 AND 4

Implementation of stages 3 and 4 of the Shield project - the primary SAPOL information, data and records management system linking directly with other justice sector agencies to improve collaboration and data sharing capabilities.
ADDITIONAL ELECTRONIC MONITORING DEVICES

For the ongoing lease of an additional 100 electronic monitoring devices and resources to manage the supervision and monitoring of offenders across the state.
