Economic recovery fund

$22 million in 2026-27 to increase the fund to $122 million to support initiatives that promote job creation, build advanced manufacturing capability, and increase productivity and development opportunities in South Australia.


Growing the space industry

$33 million over four years to repurpose the government’s commitment to the Australian Space Park proposal to establish a common user facility for the space industry at Lot Fourteen. This will expand the existing space presence at this site, helping to attract, grow and retain space companies in South Australia. The common user facility will support space manufacturing capability, including collaboration, production and testing of small satellites. This facility will support other space related industries.


National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy facilities

$25.4 million over five years (including $4.5 million in 2027-28) to continue supporting ongoing operations and upgrades to equipment of six South Australian based National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy facilities. The facilities support multiple sectors including agriculture, food and wine, health and medical, defence and space, advanced manufacturing, environment and energy.


Research & Innovation Fund

$20 million over four years for the Research and Innovation Fund, including continued funding of the startup hub at Lot Fourteen.


Video game development rebate extension

$13.5 million over four years for the extension of the South Australian video game development rebate scheme to keep the state nationally competitive, retain industry jobs and continue the state’s industry growth. The rebate is equivalent to 10 per cent of eligible expenditure on video game development work undertaken in South Australia.


BIODATA SA

$8 million over four years to build a new biodiversity data system to transform how South Australia captures, manages and shares its biodiversity data assets with relevant stakeholders. The system will enable improved standardisation of data, modelling and analytics, and the delivery of larger volumes of raw and value-added data to linked systems and stakeholders.


Small business strategy

$6.5 million over four years to deliver the South Australian small business strategy to increase the skills, capability and capacity of small business owners and support them to create jobs and build the economy.

Northern Water project investment decision

The government has allocated funding to partner with industry to undertake further studies, including environmental studies, final engineering and costings for the northern water project to facilitate a final decision for the initiative.

The final investment decision is due in the second half of 2024. Final costs to build a desalination facility on the Eyre Peninsula will be determined as part of the final investment decision.

International education recovery

$6 million over three years for StudyAdelaide to attract and retain high quality international students to drive sustained growth following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Office of AUKUS

$5.5 million over four years to support the implementation of the AUKUS submarine construction program at Osborne.

BioCina

$5 million over two years for the state’s contribution to the BioCina project establishing an end-to-end mRNA manufacturing facility in South Australia. Together with BioCina’s contribution, the total investment in the project will be $17.4 million.


International network expansion

$2.4 million over four years to increase South Australia’s international presence and representation in overseas markets to take advantage of opportunities arising with changing trade and investment relationships. This includes expansion of the state’s network of overseas offices to include an office in Frankfurt, Germany and Washington, D.C., United States of America, along with a Special Envoy to Singapore and South-East Asia.


Copper taskforce

$2.1 million over four years to establish a copper taskforce that will ensure the state maximises the public benefits from the development of its copper deposits.


Hydrogen and Renewable Energy Act implementation

$1.2 million over two years to facilitate the development and implementation of the Hydrogen and Renewable Energy Act, supporting delivery of the hydrogen jobs plan and a world-leading green hydrogen sector.
